This April join us for our monthly HOH Shabbat and hear from local activist Jodi Rosenbaum, Founder and Executive Director of More Than Words, a non-profit dedicated to serving youth and giving them opportunities to change their lives.

In honor of Jodi’s participation this month, HOH is collecting books to give to More Than Words! Please be sure to bring $5.00 to cover the cost of the event, and a gently used books with you on Friday night. Recent bestsellers, classic novels, cookbooks, and children’s books are recommended!
More Than Words (MTW) is a non-profit, social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. By working as a team to manage their own retail and online used book business, cafe, and community space, youth develop the employment skills, leadership, and self-confidence they need to successfully transition to adulthood. In addition to store-based job training, youth are engaged in personal transition planning and case management to support educational goals and concrete plans for their future education, work and life. Jodi Rosenbaum has more than 18 years of experience working with youth in the juvenile justice system, public schools and youth development field, including with Teach For America. She serves on boards of both the Arlington Area and Massachusetts State Department of Children and Families as well as the Mass. Chapter of the Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA). Both Jodi and More Than Words have received numerous awards, including the 2010 Advocate of the Year from The Providers’ Council, and the 2010 “Rising Star” Award from Germaine Lawrence and the 2012 Innovation award by the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE) out of more than 250 nominations.

Free validated parking is available for Havurah on the Hill’s monthly Shabbats. The Vilna Shul is also easily accessible by public transportation. Just take the MBTA Red Line to Charles/MGH. For driving, walking and public transport directions, please visithttp://www.vilnashul.org/about/location.
You MUST validate your green parking ticket at the Shul and return it to a staff member at the parking garage for validation.
